Hephzibah Tintner Fellowship for Conducting, May 2017- May 2019

Applications are invited from Conductors for the Hephzibah Tintner Fellowship.

Candidates will be invited to apply in 2017 for a program of study and observation from May 2017 to May 2018, that may progress to periods of assisting various conductors from May 2018 to May 2019. This opportunity is available to emerging Conductors.

Candidates must show potential to conduct for major performing arts companies in Sydney and Australia. Training will consist of mentorship and observation with Opera Australia, The Australian Ballet, and Sydney Symphony Orchestra. The arts companies will work with the candidate to develop a program best suited to their ability, training needs and experience.

Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents aged between 17 and 38. Preference will be given to candidates who live in Sydney, or who are prepared to transfer there for the duration of the Fellowship, or as required.

The successful Fellow will receive $50,000. This amount will cover all expenses and act as a stipend for the duration of the Fellowship. Any additional expenses will need to be discussed with the arts companies. The Foundation will make no further payments to the Fellow.

Applications will close on 28 February, 2017 at 5pm. Short-listed applicants must be available for interview and piano audition on 11th April, 2017 in Sydney. A final will be held for selected candidates with the Opera Australia Orchestra on 19th April 2017, in Sydney.

The winner will be announced in May 2017.
